As you may notice by the return email, I have moved. I am now at Rice University (in houston texas - never ever thought I'd live in texas but ...) I do not know of other people doing lava lamp simulations numerically. The one on the www is by Louis Moresi (who I work with quite a bit). I have used the same finite element code (which louis wrote) to do my own lava lamp simulations for fun (I do also use it for more "serious" scientific research). In terms of the modeling technique the best sourse is louis' web page http://www.ned.dem.csiro.au/research/solidMech/Personnel/LouisMoresi He has whole seperate pages describing the FE code w/ examples. I will also email him mysefl to see if he can chat with you a bit via email. If he has the time I will write back to you with his email etc. For now start with thge web page and if you have any added q's feel free to ask me. best, Adrian
